Reactive practitioners and novices often neglect problem characterization, becoming fixated on, or led to, a particular set of solutions that is often later found to be unjustifiable.  Even then, they most likely continue to hold on to their early decisions and attempt to “design out” their flaws instead of starting over with a new set of solutions and/or returning to the problem characterization stage to understood it properly.  Those do not solicit or stimulate innovation whereas proactive entities do.

Innovative ideas can come from anywhere.  Each of us has a unique set of experiences that allows us to see opportunities or problems that others do not see.  Sometimes, a problem is obvious, everyone sees it, but nothing happens until “someone” decides to do something about it.

That “someone” comprises a visionary exchange between a “problem solver” and an “enabler”.  One sees above and beyond the problem and provides an innovative solution to it, and the other sees the value of the solution and enables it.  Without the “innovator”, new ideas will not be developed to the point of acceptance, and yet without the “enabler”, new ideas will not be recognized.  The transition between the “innovator” and “enabler” merges to form the “someone” that possesses an unusual way of seeing things, and has an unmatched sense for real advancement.

DESUL advocates and envisions proactive solutions; thereby increasing the value and quality of a targeted product(s) to serve long-term goals in cost effective and environmentally sound methods.
